Why Imara?

I was previously a client of Imara, and they helped me through a lot, providing the support I needed when I needed it most. I am forever grateful for everything they did for me. When I was asked if I wanted to join the participation group, I was excited to be involved. I was there from the very first meeting when the group was set up in 2020, I haven’t looked back. Being part of this group has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I’m proud of the journey we've taken together.

What is the participation group?

"The Participation Group is a group of young people who have accessed support from Imara and now offer their time to help improve the service. This involves being consulted on new ideas Imara is developing, and using their own ideas to create new projects, resources, and campaigns." this stament is form imars website to learn more plese click the link below

What we do

This is what we do. Over the years, we’ve participated in numerous projects aimed at making meaningful changes for survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA) and preventing future abuse. Some of our key initiatives include:

  • Managing Resistance Project by Sussex University: We contributed to this project, which focuses on creative and resistant responses to adversity, helping to amplify the voices of survivors.
  • ONS Surveys: Our group provided critical input on making surveys more accessible for survivors, ensuring that their needs and experiences are properly represented.
  • Nottingham Youth Charter: We shared our opinions on effective youth engagement and delivered training sessions designed to empower young people.
  • Meetings with Police: We actively engaged in discussions with law enforcement on CSA prevention, sharing valuable insights and strategies to improve measures aimed at stopping abuse.
  • 2022 Sea Glass Art Auction: We organized and participated in an art auction that successfully raised funds for Imara, supporting their mission to provide essential services.
  • Interviewing for Imara’s Services: We conducted interviews with survivors to gather feedback and opinions, directly contributing to the enhancement of Imara’s support services.

Through these initiatives, we are committed to making a difference for CSA survivors and contributing to the ongoing prevention of abuse.
